Psalm 27:14 Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!
Waiting can pose as a real challenge. We live in a culture where waiting is frowned upon and not considered the norm. We want things right away. And if doesn’t happen quick enough, we gripe and complain. But the Bible tells us in Isaiah 40:31, “Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Waiting on the Lord is the best thing we can do. When we move ahead of Him, we get into trouble as we mess things up. So it’s much better to wait upon Him. His timing is always perfect.
Psalm 31:15 says, “My times are in Your hand.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1 declares “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.”
God honors those who wait upon Him. He will never fail in giving them His very Best!
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Ladies, I highly encourage you to wait upon the Lord. Whatever it is you are expecting Him to do or come to pass, trust His outcome and His timing. We may be praying for something in particular, but it may not be in alignment with His will for our lives. God may have a different plan all together. Remember, His thoughts are not our thoughts nor are His ways our ways (Isaiah 55:8). If God does not answer your prayer request the way you anticipated, please do not become angry or upset. He’s a Good Good Father Who loves you very much. There’s no good thing He will withhold from those who walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11b). Lovingly and faithfully embrace His plan for your life. His plan is always the Best! When you walk in obedience to what He has for you, you will see how beautifully He orchestrates His plan to work in your favor.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Currently, I’m involved in a group study with several ladies. We are going through an amazing book by authors, Henry and Richard Blackaby and Claude King. The authors made a statement in one of the units that really stood out to me: “God will develop your character to match your assignment.” The authors go on to give a beautiful illustration when God promised Abraham a son: “How long was it from the time God spoke to Abraham until Isaac, the child of promise was born? Twenty-five years! Why did God wait 25 years? Because it took God 25 years to make Abraham a father suitable for Isaac. God was concerned not so much about Abraham but about founding a nation. The quality of the father will affect the quality of following generations. God took time to build Abram into a man of character. Abram immediately began adjusting his life to God’s ways. He could not wait until Isaac was born and then try to become the kind of father required to raise a patriarch of God’s people. You can not bypass character.” -Henry Blackaby, Richard Blackaby, and Claude King
Ladies, please don’t despise your season of waiting. God is developing your character. Maybe you are praying for a home, but God has a bigger plan all together. If He’s promised you this, He not only wants to give you a home, but He wants that home to bring glory to His name. Possibly, He’s developing your character not just to be a homeowner, but to hold bible studies and prayer meetings in your home. Maybe you are praying for His choice in a godly mate, but He has a bigger plan. Maybe He wants to use your marriage as a testimony to other couples of what a godly marriage should look like. Whatever you find yourself praying for, wait patiently on the Lord, embrace His plan, and allow Him to develop your character in the waiting stages.
