Psalm 46:1-2 God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. (NLT)
Just over a week ago, there was an earthquake in Ridgecrest, CA. It was felt in other places including Los Angeles. I remember exactly what I was doing at the time of the quakes. I didn’t feel the first one, but I definitely felt the second one on the following day. I was in my house and noticed that my bathroom door was softly shaking. I was so distracted by the door movement that it didn’t even dawn on me that we were having an earthquake. Immediately, I went into one of the bedrooms and saw the window shutters swaying back and forth. And then I realized, we were having an earthquake. Sudden fear came over me. But in the same breath, I called on the name of the Lord. He placed this verse on my heart: Though the earth give way, I will not fear. In other words, I will not be shaken because my hope and my trust is in the Lord Himself. He is the one who will protect, rescue, and deliver me. He is a Great God and the earth is His footstool. He created the earth with His own hands; therefore, I can rest and trust in Him. As the Creator of the universe, He will uphold me with His righteous right hand and not allow my foot to be moved or shaken.
As Christians, we are not exempt from trials. The Bible says the rain falls on the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45). Heartache, opposition, persecution, and hardship will come our way. These things are challenging and even sometimes difficult to deal with. As hard as it may be, we need to keep our focus solely on the Lord. He is the One who will give us His grace and strength to walk through the storms of life. And He promises to be with us. He will never leave nor forsake us. He is a Good God and yes, He will uphold each and everyone of us with His righteous right hand. Although the world may shake around us, you and I will not be shaken because our hope lies on a firm foundation. Our hope is in Jesus, the King of kings, our Sustainer, our Refuge, our Rock, our Deliverer, our Redeemer, our Protector, our Defender, our Anchor, our Hiding Place, our Counselor, and our Blessed Hope. I encourage you to always turn to the Lord and take courage. God is much bigger and greater than anything you and I will ever face.

John 16:33b In this world, you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
Trust in the Lord always and cling tightly to Him. If you and I remain firmly anchored and deeply rooted in Him as well as His Word, we will have unshakeable faith.
