Psalm 91:1-2 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust”.
In our day and age, we have a myriad of security measures which have been set in place to protect our country and the citizens who live in it. Some of those safeguards include our U.S. Military, Law Enforcement, Security Cameras & Monitoring Devices as well as other aspects of security protocol.
As a woman, I’m always thinking about my personal safety while paying close attention to the people in my proximity. My cousin thinks I’m crazy because I love watching crime shows pertaining to re-enactments of true events which have occurred at some point in time. Interestingly, the individuals who have participated in or committed the said crimes are people who appear less likely to do so. Looks can be deceiving!
With school shootings, terrorist attacks, and other crime-related events on the rise, I believe we as a people need to become increasingly aware of our surroundings. I’m not saying that we can control or prevent circumstances from happening. But if our eyes are open to what’s going on around us, we should be able to detect strange behavior and then, take it a step further by contacting our local authorities for assistance.
For the past couple of years, the Holy Spirit has moved me to remain in a state of thanksgiving for God’s protection over my life. I’ve gone through a few things which have gripped my heart with fear causing me to doubt and not trust in God’s protective hands. As I worship the Lord and constantly thank Him for His protection, He has changed my fearful heart to a heart that safely trusts in His divine protection. This doesn’t mean that I’m exempt from the sufferings of this life, but it does mean that I have no reason to fear, for the Lord is with me. Whatever I’m facing, He will be faithful to walk me through it with His hedge of protection around me shielding my mind from those feelings of fear and doubt. God’s protection is the BEST Protection! It never fails and He never fails. His presence brings comfort to troubled and hurting hearts.
Ladies, do you feel overwhelmed by fear and doubt? If so, I encourage you to turn to the Lord, pray earnestly to Him, and seek His face. He is a REFUGE, a SAFE HAVEN, and a DIVINE PROTECTOR to those who trust in Him. Jesus will bring peace and refreshment to your souls while comforting your hearts. Trust Him!
Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Samuel 22:2-4 And he said: “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; my Savior, You save me from violence. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies”.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
