Attribute #9 – God is Sovereign!
Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things have been created through Him and for Him.
1828 Webster’s Dictionary Definition of Sovereign: Supreme in power; possessing supreme dominion; superior to all others.
To say that God is sovereign is to say that He is supreme over all things, that there is no one above Him, that He is absolute Lord over creation. It is to say that His Lordship over creation means that there is nothing out of His control, nothing that God hasn’t foreseen and planned. It means that every creature on earth, in heaven and in hell must ultimately bow the knee and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. God’s sovereignty logically implies His absolute freedom to do all that He wills to do. The sovereignty of God and the will of God are bound up together. -The Attributes of God, Volume 2 by A.W. You may be going through a horrific storm, trial, or life challenge. It’s difficult to say the least, but I want to encourage you that God is right there with you. He’s Sovereign and in control of what’s going on in your life. Turn to Him and cling tightly to Him while believing that He will see you through to the end. Please do not lose heart! It’s hard, but keep your eyes on Him and not your circumstances. Ask Him to give you His peace and prepare your heart to accept His outcome for your situations. Sometimes we don’t like God’s outcome, but we have to remember that He knows exactly what He’s doing and it is for our best interest in the end. We tend to think that when God says “no” or closes the door to a situation or circumstance that He’s being unloving. Nothing can be further from the truth. God is protecting us. That closed door or “no” answer is for our good. He has a far better plan in store for each of us and He closes doors in order to propel us towards bigger and greater things. Trust the Lord! He’s Sovereign and He is using our trials and our hardships to refine our characters, deepen our faith in Him, and He’s preparing us to be His strong vessels for His glory. Our Sovereign King knows exactly what He’s doing in each of our lives. Let’s fix our eyes on Him, entrust our circumstances to Him, and rest in Him! He will bring beauty from the ashes! ☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽And everything will turn out for our good and for His glory!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
