Attribute #8 – God is Gracious!
Psalm 103:8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.
1828 Webster’s Dictionary Definition of Gracious: Favorable, kind, benevolent, merciful, proceeding from divine grace, excellent, acceptable.
The God we serve and belong to is gracious and kind. He is slow to anger and abounding in mercy. As His children, we should imitate His example and extend that same grace to people and do our best to be kind to others. Yes, it is very hard to love the unlovable or people who are difficult. Or those who intentionally provoke you to anger and who like to stir up strife. Unfortunately there will be individuals who you encounter who are hard to love. And it’s ok to love them from a distance in order to keep the peace. It’s challenging, but in God’s strength, He will empower us all to love, be gracious, and show compassion to the lovable as well as the unlovable.
We serve a Great God Who does extraordinary things through His people. We need to rest, depend, and solely rely on the Lord in order to be His vessel of love and compassion. With God, all things are possible. I encourage you to pray and ask God to transform your heart to love people through His eyes while extending grace to them. Seek Him fervently and believe that He will empower you through His Holy Spirit to do so. He’s so Faithful!
Psalm 86:15 But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth.
