Psalm 23:2a He makes me lie down in green pastures.
In the Christian’s life there is no substitute for the keen awareness that my Shepherd is nearby. There is nothing like Christ’s presence to dispel the fear, the panic, the terror of the unknown. (A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 by W. Phillip Keller, Pg. 44)
I love what God’s Word says in Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” Even though difficulties will come our way, we can trust that the Lord will sustain us and give us His peace which surpasses all understanding as we rest in Him.
According to the 1828 Webster’s Dictionary, the word Rest means ‘Quiet, Repose, or a State of Reconciliation to God’. So ladies, I encourage you to rest in the sweet presence of our Loving Shepherd. He knows exactly what each of us are facing and He promises to give us His grace, strength, and peace for our situations as we look to and diligently seek Him.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
Faithfully abide in Him and allow our Heavenly Bridegroom to lead you to His lush green pastures where you will find rest for your soul!
It is the knowledge that my Master, my Friend, my Owner has things under control even when they may appear calamitous. This gives me great consolation, repose, and rest. “Now I lay me down in peace and sleep, for Thou, God, keepest me.” (A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 by W. Phillip Keller, Pg. 45)
