Psalm 23:1b I shall not want.
Since the Lord is my Shepherd, then I shall not want. Actually the word “want” as used here has a broader meaning. The main concept is that of not lacking – not deficient – in proper care, management, or husbandry. But a second emphasis is the idea of being utterly contented in the Good Shepherd’s care and consequently not craving or desiring anything more. (A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 by W. Phillip Keller, Pg. 29)
Ladies, we all desire something. For some, it may be a career change, a new home, a nice vacation, a relationship or something else. The Lord knows and He cares. I encourage you all to lay these concerns or whatever your heart desires down at His feet and trust Him. These things will not satisfy the deepest longings of your heart, only Jesus can. He spoke these words to the Samaritan woman in John 4:13-14, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” Ladies, rest in Him and be content in the seasons of life where the Lord has placed you. Your identity should always be in Him, not in the things you possess or the relationships you have. Only Jesus satisfies and true lasting contentment can only come from Him. He loves you so much and He’s the One who will give you His Life giving water so you will never thirst again! You shall not want…for Jesus is enough!❤️❤️❤️
He is the Owner Who delights in His flock. For Him, there is no greater reward, no deeper satisfaction, than that of seeing His sheep contented, well fed, safe, and flourishing under His care. This is indeed His very “life”. He gives all He has to it. He literally lays Himself out for those who are His. (A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 by W. Phillip Keller, Pg. 35)
