Luke 2:11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Christmas Carols. Holiday Decor. Wreaths. Christmas Stockings. Festive Lights. Nativity Scenes. Snow. Santa Claus. Reindeer. Cinnamon Scented Candles. Hot Chocolate. Truffles. Cookies. Gingerbread. IT’S CHRISTMAS TIME – the most wonderful time of the year!
It has been my family’s tradition to always decorate for Christmas. Every year, my dad would buy a real Christmas tree and bring it home for my mom to adorn it with colorful lights, beautiful ornaments, and garland. My dad would also put up additional holiday lights on the exterior of our home. As the days led up to Christmas, my parents would place presents under our tree. I would be super-excited and I couldn’t wait until Christmas morning to open all of my gifts.
Reflecting back on my childhood, teenage, and young adult years, I was very blessed to have both of my parents. They were not perfect, but their love for me was kind, nurturing, unconditional, and sweet. My mom and dad made sure that I had the very best of everything, not just at Christmas time, but all year long.
As an older woman, my heart’s desire is to carry on my family’s Christmas tradition with my future husband and Lord willing, our children. I would love for them to experience what I had. However, there was a key component missing which sums up the true meaning of Christmas – the story of Christ’s birth. My prayer is that my future husband and I would faithfully share with our family the reason why we celebrate Christmas – to commemorate the birth of JESUS: He is the Reason for the season!
For the past few weeks, I’ve bought Christmas gifts and made a wish list for myself. In the midst of it all, the Holy Spirit has been prompting me to pray for and seek out spiritual gifts which have an eternal value vs. temporary material possessions that are here today and gone tomorrow. The Holy Spirit has led me to pray for a heart to know God’s wisdom in every situation, a heart that will be fully surrendered to the plan and purposes of God, a heart and a mind to fall deeply in love with Jesus, an uncompromising heart, a heart that will remain faithful to the commandments and precepts of God, and a heart to diligently read, study, and meditate on God’s Word on a daily basis.
Ladies, my prayer for you is that you will seek after and earnestly desire eternal gifts, not just in this Christmas season, but all year long. I pray that your hearts will always remain open to the call of God in each of your lives. And that you will allow Jesus to come in and mold you into the godly woman He desires you to be. You are His masterpiece!!!
Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Please pray for and ask Him to infuse you with His wisdom, for a heart of understanding, for a deeper love for Him, to remain as a faithful witness for Him, and to become a woman of His Word. The Lord loves you very much and He is Faithful! It says in Jeremiah 29:13, “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” Ladies, trust the Lord! He always gives the BEST of the BEST gifts!!! No one or nothing can compare with His heavenly treasures.
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
