Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
July 4TH, which is also known as Independence Day is celebrated every year by millions of people. Families and friends come together for a time of fellowship. The day is typically centered around delicious food (bbq and potato salad), ice cream treats, great conversation, and watching a firework show by the end of the night.
Growing up, my family and I always spent the 4TH of July at home. We would eat bbq, enjoy each other’s company, and have our own firework show once the sun goes down. It was always a sweet time of fellowship. My family and I still carry on this tradition; however, without the fireworks since they are illegal now.
I love the 4TH! As I reflect on our independence as a nation and the freedom we have been given, I can help but think about the freedom we have in Christ. As Americans, we are blessed to live in a great country where we are free to attend church, free to worship the Lord, free to pray publicly and privately, free to carry and read our bibles, free to serve the Lord, and free to share the good news about our King Jesus with the lost. But yet in still, we tend to shy away from this freedom due to complacency, fear, rejection, concerns of being judged, and/or no real desire. My prayer is that we will exercise our freedom as Christians and truthfully live out our faith with bold confidence for the Lord.
Starting today and going forward, I highly encourage you as well as myself to take advantage of the blessed freedom Christ has entrusted to each one of us and become a living example of what it means to be free in Christ. He paid the ultimate price in going to the cross on our behalf, so that we can be set free from the power of sin and darkness. So let’s make the firm choice to honor Jesus by using the freedom He has given to us by faithfully living a life that pleases Him and brings glory to His name.
John 8:36 “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
Wishing you and your families a blessed and safe 4TH!🎆💥
