Philippians 4:11-12 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
Living a single life has its fair share of challenges. I have been single for quite some time now. Some days are difficult while other days are bearable. I miss getting to know someone, spending quality time with that person, holding hands, and having conversations about life together. In those moments, I find myself asking God, “When is my promised husband coming?” In His grace, the Lord has gently shown me through His Word that I need to learn to be content in whatever state I am. This season of my life should not be viewed as challenging, but as a season of great joy while basking in God’s wonderful blessings.
John 15:11 These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
Through His Word, the Lord has also given me affirmation that He will use this season of my life among others to accomplish His will. Through my singleness, He will be glorified. There are things He wants to do in and through me to fulfill His purposes. The question is: “Am I willing to allow Him to use me as His vessel?”, “Am I willing to completely surrender, fully yield, and faithfully submit to Him and His authority?” My response is “Lord, you know my heart. I pray that you will empower me through Your Holy Spirit to always have an open heart to be used by You and to always say ‘Yes’ to Your will and plan for my life.”
My prayer is that you will embrace your season of singleness and keep your heart ready and open to receive God’s leading and direction for your life. God wants to do great and mighty things through you as His daughter.
Ladies, I encourage you to remain joyful in your season of singleness, and allow the Lord to use this time to bring glory to His name. It says in Jeremiah 33:3, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” The bible is filled with ordinary men and women of whom God used in amazing ways to bring about His purposes. To name a few:
-He used Abraham and Sarah; God promised them a son and the couple had Isaac in their old age when they were way passed child bearing years (Genesis 18:10-11);
-God put in the heart of Noah to build an ark before He brought floodwaters upon the earth; Noah did according to the Word of the Lord (Genesis 6:17-22);
-He used Moses to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt (Exodus 3:10);
-God used David, a shepherd boy to kill Goliath. David was anointed as king (1 Samuel 17:45-51, 2 Samuel 2:4);
-He used Queen Esther to bring about deliverance of the Jews when Haman wanted to kill them (Esther 8:3-8);
-God used the Apostle Paul, formerly Saul-a church persecutor to preach the Gospel (Acts 9:1-2, Acts 9:15, Acts 9:22).
Just as the Lord used these men and women in their different stages of life, God can certainly use you in your singleness as well as other seasons of your life. “Will you become obedient to His call?”
Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
2 Chronicles 16:9a For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.
Ladies, don’t despise your singleness; instead, embrace it, remain content in this season, and allow the Lord to use your singleness for His glory.
1 Timothy 6:6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain.
