Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been spending a lot of time at the beach due to my love for the water and and to cool off from these heatwaves. On August 25th as I was sitting on the sand, the Lord gave me the verse above, Isaiah 43:19 which says, “He will do a new thing.” I’ve been praying and seeking His face in regards to what new things He wants to do in my life. His Spirit gently confirmed to me that before I can embrace the new, I must get rid of old things that may hold me back such as dwelling on the past. In order to move forward, I need to stop looking back. Let go of past mistakes and regrets, so that I may embrace the new things that the Lord wants to do in my life. Each day is a new day and His mercies are new every morning.
Lamentations 3:22-23 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
Even though we are in a nationwide pandemic, the Lord may want to do a new thing in your life. You may say, “I want things to go back to normal or the way things used to be.” That’s understandable! Most people including myself are not receptive to change. We have our routines and we like things to function just as they have been. But the Lord may have a completely different plan and a change of direction.
My prayer for you and for myself is that we will turn to Him, trust His plan for each of our lives, and embrace the new thing He wants to do. We may not understand or agree with the direction He wants to take us in, but we are called to live out Proverbs 3:5-6 which says: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. I’m learning that when the Lord takes something away or says “No” to a prayer request, He has something far better in mind. I may not see it in the moment, but He calls me to trust in Him and in His time, He will reveal to me the plan and the blessings He has in store for my life. My prayer is that you don’t become angry with God when things are not going your way or when He says “No”, trust and believe that He has something far better for you. In His perfect timing, He will reveal it to you and bless you with the promises He has declared over your life.
The Lord may be doing a new thing. Don’t resist, but embrace and walk in His newness. Believe – His plans for you are for good and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). One of my favorite verses is Psalm 84:11b which says, No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. Our Lord Jesus will not withhold any good thing from you and I as long as we walk uprightly according to His word.
Trust the Lord and believe that all things are working together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). He wants to do a new thing!!!
